The Water Justice Hub’s website was launched on October 14th 2019. The launch coincided with the ANU inaugural Indigenous water forum.
Hosted by Australian National Universities’ School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), the forum featured Dr Virginia Marshall (School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), ANU), Anthony Watson (Chairman of the Kimberley Land Council), Eugene Bargo (Goreng Kabi elder) and others. The forum asked, “Are Indigenous water rights the ‘Mabo’ issue of our generation?”
Indigenous water rights are a critical water justice issue in Australia. Connecting and promoting water justice initiatives are the hub’s key functions. The website showcases a number of programs and initiatives. People who are members of the Hub come from a broad range of disciplines.
