In 2017 & 2018, Cape Town went through one of the worst water crises in the city’s history. As the city approached ‘Day Zero’, when it would effectively run out of water, many residents experienced the danger of climate change induced drought on a massive scale. This TIME investigation by Aryn Barker shows firsthand what it’s like to live in a city quickly running out of water, an ominous warning for the rest of the world.
