TACKLING WATER (IN) JUSTICE – INSIGHTS AND INSPIRATION FOR THE NT

This special event brings together a lineup of water justice experts and advocates from the Water Justice Hub who will share their insights into urgent water-related challenges that face First Nations and local communities.
The evening aims to explore how other regions within Australia are tackling water (in) justice and to foster meaningful dialogue.
The evening will involve presentations followed by an engaging and thought-provoking panel discussion with the Water Justice Hub team.

Meet the Speakers
Professor Quentin Grafton is an Australian Laureate Fellow and Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Water Economics and Transboundary Water Governance at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University, as well as the Convenor of the Water Justice Hub.
Professor Anne Poelina is a Nyikina Warwa Traditional Custodian from the Mardoowarra, Lower Fitzroy River, the Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council Chair, and an award-winning filmmaker. She is the inaugural First Nations appointment to the Murray Darling Basin Independent Advisory Committee on Social, Economic, and Environmental Sciences and the Associate Commissioner with the Productivity Commission for the National Water Reform 2024 inquiry.
Dan Schulz is a PhD Candidate with the Water Justice Hub, a visual artist, filmmaker, and the co-creator of Water Watch Radio, a weekly radio show hosted in Broken Hill about water management that is broadcast on the Community Radio Network. Dan’s PhD research focuses on water policy and management in the Darling-Baaka River and Menindee Lakes in the Murray Darling Basin.
